The enchanting Valley of Flowers and Gurudwara Hemkund Sahib located in eastern Uttarakhand in the Nanda Devi mountain range in upper Himalayas. Valley Of Flowers is a high altitude valley – elevation of 3600 meters famous for a rich and unique biodiversity including being home to over 200 varieties of flowers. Hemkund Sahib is perched at an elevation of 4500 meters by the banks of an alpine lake and nestled amongst snow-capped mountains. A trek to Hemkund Sahib is not only a spiritually gratifying experience, but also a thrilling and sensory one.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 : DEHRADUN TO GOVINDGHAT

Drive to Govindghat, this will take around 10 hours. During the drive, you will be passing via Devprayag, Rudraprayag, and Joshimath.

TIME TAKEN: 12-14 HOURS

DISTANCE: 310 KM

ALTITUDE: 5,997 FT.

Day 2 : GOVINDGHAT TO GHANGARIA TREK/chopper

We will trek from Govindghat to Ghangaria, it will be a 16 Kms trek passing through two small beautiful villages Pulna and Bhyundar. We will stay at Ghangaria overnight and prepare for the next day.

You can also use the helicopter to reach Ghangharai from the Govind Ghat, and for the rest of 6 Kms, you may do the walking, or you may also hire a pony for Hemkund Saheb & a 4km trek to The Valley of Flowers.

DISTANCE: 16 KM

ALTITUDE: 10,003 FT.

Day 3 : DAY HIKE TO VALLEY OF FLOWERS

Starting Early, After breakfast we will start our trek for Valley of Flowers. After 3 Kms of trek we will reach the starting point of Valley of flowers, which is a 10 Kms long and 2 Kms wide stretch and separated by Pushpawati Stream. Enjoy the serene beauty of rare alpine wildflowers like blue poppy, Cobra Lily, Geranium, Marsh etc. After Enjoying for a good amount of time & then trek back to Ghangaria for our overnight stay.

Entry to Valley of Flowers Starts at 6:45 AM and is Allowed till noon, After 12 no one is Allowed in the Valley. Also Advised to Start your return trek from 1:30 PM to Reach back by 5:00 P.M.

Day 4 : TREK TO HEMKUND SAHIB

Starting Early, On this day we will trek to Hemkund Sahib, although it is just 6 Kms trek, it is very arduous and the trek will need 6 hours. We will have to start our descent before 2 PM as the weather here changes very rapidly.

Overnight Stay in Ghangharia.

DISTANCE: 9 KM

ALTITUDE: 14,400 FT.

Day 5 : TREK FROM GHANGARIA TO GOVINDGHAT

We will trek back to Govindghat using the same trail. Upon reaching Govindghat we will check into a hotel and take rest overnight.

TIME TAKEN: 6-7 HOURS

DISTANCE: 16 KM

ALTITUDE: 5,997 FT.

Day 6 : DRIVE TO DEHRADUN

Drive from Govindghat to Dehradun and will reach by evening. Plan your stay or onward journey accordingly.

TIME TAKEN: 12-14 HOURS

DISTANCE: 310 KM

TRAVEL TIPS:

Start early from Ghangharia to get more time in the Valley of Flowers. It is a world heritage site and therefore you must enter your names in the register, pay the entry fees and report the plastic bottles that you bring along with you.

Carry a Valid Identity Card (Voter, Aadhar Card or Passport)

Carry extra pair of Socks, Gloves, Poncho / Raincoats, Extra Batteries for your Camera.

Valley of Flowers is an easy to moderate level trek. For this trek you have to be mentally and physically fit. Advised to start Running or Jogging Before 30 Days of Trek.
