Introducing the Leh – Ladakh

Introduction

Ladakh is one of the highest regions of the world. Its natural features consist mainly of high plains and deep valleys. It is the highest plateau in India with most of it being over 3,000 m (9,800 ft).It extends from the Himalayan to the Kunlun Ranges and includes the upper Indus River valley.

The peaks in the Ladakh Range are at a medium altitude close to the Zoji-la (5,000–5,500 m or 16,400–18,000 ft) and increase toward southeast, culminating in the twin summits of Nun-Kun (7,000 m or 23,000 ft)

There are two main roads that connect Ladakh with the rest of the country, NH1 connecting Srinagar to Kargil and Leh, and NH3 connecting Manali to Leh. A third road to Ladakh is the Nimmu–Padam–Darcha road, which is under construction.

When is the Best time to Visit?

April to September – This is the Only Advisable time to Visit Ladakh in the whole year. Due to its height the Temperature stays very close to the Zero degrees even in March and October.
Rest of the Time Ladakh is Either Covered in Snow and Most of the routes are blocked.

Ladakh is only available to visit 4 Months of the Year.
In Winters – it is Extremely Adventurous to visit.

Where to Go?

Leh is surrounded by three gorgeous high-altitude lakes, Tso Moriri, Tso Kar and Pangong Tso that look like sapphires embedded in the ground.

A natural wonder that leaves tourists in awe is the Magnetic Hill on the outskirts of the city. It is said to defy gravity as it tends to pull vehicles upwards.

Leh is a prominent Buddhist centre and is dotted with several important monasteries. Tourists can set on a monastery trail and admire the ancient cultures of the region come alive in various paintings adorning the walls while indulging in meditation and other therapeutic and spiritual activities.

Leh was the erstwhile capital of the kingdom of Ladakh and boasts a legacy that is reflective of its rich history. With the 17th-century Leh Palace at its heart, which is a great example of medieval Tibetan architecture, the city enjoys a smattering of heritage sites that stand tall to this day.

One of the best ways to experience the culture of Leh is to check into a homestay where the host will leave no stone unturned in immersing guests in Ladakhi culture. Another great way to “taste” the region is by way of its fresh produce: apricots, apples, and other fruits and vegetables that can be found in its orchards and markets. For the Adventure Lovers Nubra Valley leaves no stone unturned.

For the Most Beautiful part of the Trip – a visit to Turtuk and Hanle Awaits you !!

How Many Days do you need?

Ideally 8 to 9 days is enough to explore Ladakh. If you have less time then go for the famous route of Leh-Nubra Valley-Pangong Lake to cover the Major Spots. If you have more time then spend time at Turtuk Village, Visit Siachen Glacier, Stay at Hanle and Tso Moriri Lake. Also Stays can be done at Padum and Zanskar if you have more time.
